“There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world; and that is, an idea
whose time has come.” – Victor Hugo
“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” Matthew 9:12
In Robert Lewis’s book, The Church of Irresistible Influence, he writes of his
“State of the Church” address in 1997, and being an influencer. Here are his
words: “I speak of President John F. Kennedy’s radical challenge to the nation in
1961. Earlier that year the Soviet Union had shocked the world by sending the
first man into space. One month later America followed with a fifteen minute
space flight by Alan Shepherd aboard Friendship 1. Everyone was excited, but it
only marked the beginning. On September 12, 1961, President John F. Kennedy
made a bold, almost unbelievable announcement, calling every American to a
noble idea many would think impossible: “We choose to go to the moon. We
choose to go to the moon in this decade, not because it is easy, but because it is
hard.”” Pg. 65 Lewis then challenges his church to face the hard times ahead.
Jesus calls us to do many things. To love Him, love others. To BE the CHURCH,
not because it is easy, but because it is hard. Following Jesus isn’t easy. The Life
God has called us isn’t easy. The benefits in store for us are great. As we strive on
this journey together, we can dream the impossible knowing it is possible only
through God’s strength.
See you Sunday,
Your Smiling preacher,

“IT isn’t all the plastic Christianity that concerns me. It is Christians, who should,
well be starting to act like Christians that concerns me.”
