The Minister and His Study.

The Minister and His Study

No minister studies enough. What should a minister study? He should study people. He should also be studying books and be a life long learner.

The question then becomes:

I. What to study?
A. The Scriptures. A growing ministry of the Lord is impossible without a growing knowledge of the Word. Make it a daily habit. Devotional, classes, sermon prep. Use aids, but don’t depend on them too much.
B. The Sermons you prepare.
Study to make a sermon series. Study to make a sermon fit the needs of your people. Study to make your sermons interesting. Dullness and boring sermons aren’t far from falsehood.
C. Study English. Pronouncing words. Where the Root of the Words come from. Articulation and communication tools.
D. Study what’s going on in culture. Read articles, internet.
E. Study History. Know the past to help the present strive for the future.
F. Study your “Competition” – Get ideas, tools, to help the church grow… be aware of false cults etc out there attracting people.
G. Study any other fields which might interest you. Psychology, Animation etc.

II. Tips for Aids:
1. Don’t buy a book you can’t pay for.
2. Don’t buy a book you’re not going to use.
3. Don’t buy a book if you can get it for free (Library or online)
4. Use local seminary.

III. How to Study:
Give attention to reading habits. Should read about 300 words a minute. Learn to read fast. Motive your study, Keep your goals a head of you. Figure out application after you comprehended the material.

In all things, have fun and continue to be a life long learner.
