Hoax beware!!

Seems people are either naive or don't use discernment. Lots of people try to abuse and be users of the Church's funds and time which God has trusted them. If it isn't the Nigerian Scam then it is something else besides some other hoax or urban legend. This is why we, as Christians, need to have discernment and wisdom in all we do.

Keep the main thing; the main thing.

That's why our church has come up with a guideline to our benevolence. A local congregation had unfortunately collected plastic lids to help with cancer treatments for a small boy in a town nearby. Guess what? It was a hoax. It helped the church to learn to use discernment - and even though trying to do the right thing - it gets away from their mission. Now they are trying to see if some third world country or mission can use the plastic goods.

Know who you are supporting and why and where the funding goes. We, as Church leaders, need to be above reproach, and in handling God's money - help the family of God and those in need to do the right thing. And sometimes doing the right thing isn't always the Easiest thing.
